Peter joined the board of Carra Ireland as a non-executive director in July 2011. He brings to the organisation considerable experience and business insight, which will compliment the existing Carra management team.

A graduate of UCD, Peter spent his early career in the oil industry in West Africa. Returning to Dublin, he joined The Jefferson Smurfit Group in 1978 and, in 1995 was appointed Chairman and CEO of Smurfit Ireland and UK. He retired in 2000 and remains a member of the Smurfit Ireland Board.

He served as Chairman of Beaumont Hospital for three years from 2000 and was President of The Dublin Chamber of Commerce in 2002. Currently, he is Chairman of Metro Herald, Ryco Book Protection, Image Now Group, Epilepsy Care Foundation and is a Director of a number of Irish and US companies.
