The private single phase charger is a low cost, safe and easy to use charger that is provided with or without a tethered cable and connector. They deliver up to 3kw of electricity and take 6-8 hours to charge an electric vehicle, depending on the state of the battery and the type of vehicle.

These chargers are installed in homes and organisation where the electricity usage is metered externally (i.e. electricity usage costs are borne by the landlord through the existing ESB meter). 

Operation of private chargers is typically not controlled through any multi-user remote activation mechanism, however, this functionality can be added if required.
